Psychotherapy & Counseling Consent and Practice Policies
Thank you for considering psychotherapy & counseling with Rosemary Collaborative Wellness LLC. Choosing to engage in this work together reflects intention and a commitment to growth. This document outlines the nature of our work together, expectations, boundaries, and policies so that we begin with clarity and shared understanding. Please read it carefully and bring any questions to our first session.
About My Practice
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. My approach to therapy is integrative and holistic, drawing on somatic, experiential, and mindfulness-based frameworks to support lasting change. I work with individuals navigating a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, life transitions, relational patterns, identity development, and nervous system dysregulation. I believe healing happens in the context of a safe, attuned relationship, and I am committed to bringing my full presence to our work together.
Services Offered
Individual Psychotherapy. I offer individual therapy sessions for adults. Sessions are typically 55 minutes in length. Together, we will collaboratively identify your goals and shape a treatment approach that is responsive to your needs and informed by evidence-based practice.
Telehealth Services. I offer therapy via secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform for clients located in Pennsylvania. Telehealth sessions are subject to the same confidentiality protections as in-person sessions. By agreeing to telehealth services, you acknowledge that you will participate from a private location and that you take responsibility for the security of your own internet connection and device.
Please note: If you are in crisis during a telehealth session or I am unable to reach you, I may need to contact emergency services at your location. For this reason, I ask that you provide a current address and local emergency contact before our first telehealth session.
Confidentiality
What you share in therapy is confidential. I will not disclose information about you or our work together without your written consent, with the following exceptions required by law:
Imminent danger: If I have reasonable cause to believe you pose an imminent risk of harm to yourself or others, I am required to take protective action, which may include contacting emergency services or a designated emergency contact.
Child or vulnerable adult abuse: I am a mandated reporter in Pennsylvania. If I have reasonable cause to suspect abuse or neglect of a minor or vulnerable adult, I am required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities.
Court order: If a court orders the release of your records, I am legally obligated to comply.
Consultation: I may consult with trusted professional colleagues for the purpose of providing you with the best possible care. In these cases, I share only the minimum necessary information and your identity is protected to the extent possible.
Communication and Between-Session Contact
I am not available for crisis support between sessions. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please call or text 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline), call 911, or go to your nearest emergency room.
For non-urgent matters, you may reach me by email. I typically respond within 48 hours. Please be aware that while I use a HIPAA compliant email platform, your email may not be HIPAA compliant and thus not a fully secure form of communication; use your discretion when sharing sensitive information.
Social Media and Electronic Communication
To protect your privacy and maintain appropriate professional boundaries, I do not accept friend or follow requests from current or former clients on personal social media platforms. This is not a reflection of our relationship but a standard ethical practice.
Your Rights as a Client
As a client, you have the right to:
Ask questions about my training, approach, and therapeutic methods at any time
Participate actively in setting and revising your treatment goals
Refuse or discontinue any therapeutic technique or intervention
Seek a second opinion or consult another mental health professional
End therapy at any time, without penalty
Termination of Services
Either of us may end the therapeutic relationship at any time. If you choose to end therapy, I encourage you to let me know so we can have a closing session together. If I determine that I am no longer the most appropriate provider for your needs, I will discuss this with you and, where appropriate, provide referrals to other qualified professionals.
Limits of the Therapeutic Relationship
The therapeutic relationship is professional in nature. I am not able to engage in dual relationships (e.g., social, business, or personal relationships outside of therapy) with current clients. This boundary exists to protect the integrity of our work and your wellbeing.
Acknowledgment and Consent
By signing the form provided, I confirm that I have read and understood the information in this document, that I have had the opportunity to ask questions, and that I voluntarily consent to participate in psychotherapy & counseling services with Cat McLaughlin, LPC at Rosemary Collaborative.
