I offer trauma-informed psychotherapy specifically for individual adults and approach our sessions with a genuine desire to connect with you on a deeper level. My goal is to help you cultivate a new and safe experience within yourself, one that fosters healing and growth. As an integrative clinician, I practice in a way that prioritizes present-moment awareness and encourages you to engage fully with your current emotions. I often see myself more as an emotion coach than a traditional therapist, guiding you to understand, express, and work through your feelings in a supportive and compassionate environment.
Emotions themselves are neither good nor bad; they simply exist as natural parts of our human experience. However, this is a concept that many of us have not fully learned or embraced. Instead, we often find ourselves bracing against these feelings or attempting to tuck them away deep inside, hoping they will disappear. Yet, no matter how much we try to suppress them, emotions always find their way back to the surface. They may not always appear in obvious ways, but can manifest through various physical and mental symptoms such as chronic pain, migraines, stress, anger, feelings of disconnection, or even depression. These are just some of the common ways that unprocessed emotions can reveal themselves when left unattended.
Psychotherapy with me looks a little different than traditional talk therapy. We’ll quickly get to what’s bothering you, addressing your most pressing concerns first, and you’ll learn strategies to enable you to have some relief. As you feel better, emotions are uncovered, acknowledged, and felt. I am interested in developing our relationship, which provides a grounded place to explore your concerns together in a respectful and collaborative way. I value your time, and am committed to working with intentional focus, understanding that you probably don’t want to be “in therapy” forever.
I use the following trauma-informed, evidence-based modalities in our work together:
Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP). I’ve studied lots of approaches (they all seem to have acronyms - CBT, DBT, ACT - to name a few) and AEDP is the best way I know how to help you make lasting change. It is an evidenced-based therapy designed to change your physiology, not just give you techniques to manage your symptoms. Of course you’ll learn skills along the way, but with AEDP we’re working on “from the ground up” change rather than treading water. Offered in two formats: a 16 session, weekly treatment model or longer-term weekly or biweekly sessions.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR uses gentle, guided eye movements or other bilateral stimulation to help your brain reprocess painful memories so they feel less overwhelming. This evidence-based approach can ease distress, shift unhelpful beliefs, and support new feelings of safety, confidence, and peace. Offered in two formats: intensive half & full day sessions or longer-term weekly or biweekly sessions.
Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy & Mindfulness Meditation. Mindfulness-CBT combines practical tools for changing unhelpful thoughts with mindfulness practices that help you stay grounded and present. This approach can reduce stress, improve mood, and help you respond to life with more clarity, compassion, and calm. Offered in multiple formats: a short-term, 6-12 week pathway to include foundations of mindfulness meditation, strategies to manage stress and overwhelm, interventions to address symptoms of depression and anxiety; or interwoven within longer-term talk therapy, weekly or biweekly sessions. Also offered in groups & workshops.
Enneagram. Enneagram offers a powerful map for understanding your patterns, motivations, and needs. In therapy, it helps us uncover your strengths, work through areas where you feel stuck, and guide you toward greater self-awareness, compassion, and meaningful change. Offered in two formats: a short-term, 6-12 week pathway to include uncovering your personality, growth and struggle points, and centers; or interwoven within longer-term talk therapy, weekly or biweekly sessions.
“The roots of resilience...are to be found in the sense of being understood by and existing in the mind and heart of of a loving, attuned, and self-possessed other.”
