So glad you’re here — all are welcome at Rosemary Collaborative.

Benefits of Psychotherapy & Counseling

It may feel indulgent to pay someone to talk to. Maybe it seems like too much of a time commitment with everything else that's going on. Can't I just talk to my friends? Partner? Collaborating with a therapist offers much more than unloading on a friend or family member. For one thing, it's all about you. My focus is accepting you as you are - and processing your emotions, past issues, and present concerns, hopes and wishes in a safe and connected relationship.

Above everything else, psychotherapy & counseling is about the relationship. In fact, the quality of the relationship between the therapist and client predict the most successful outcomes. I approach my clients with unconditional positive regard, quickly establishing a sense of trust and safety. We will collaborate, laugh, cry, and grow together. We'll find your strengths, and use the resources you develop to resolve what you're struggling with.

Psychotherapy and counseling are both thoughtful, supportive forms of mental health care, but they often serve different purposes. Psychotherapy tends to go deeper, exploring longstanding emotional patterns, attachment experiences, or unresolved events that continue to influence how you feel and relate today. Counseling is often more focused on the present, helping you navigate current stress, life transitions, relationship dynamics, and everyday challenges with greater clarity and steadiness. While there is natural overlap, psychotherapy leans toward deeper healing and integration, and counseling emphasizes support, insight, and practical tools for where you are right now.

Rosemary Collaborative offers the following approaches to Psychotherapy & Counseling:

AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy)*

AEDP is a powerful, gentle, and supportive approach that helps people heal at the deepest level. AEDP works from the belief that we are all wired for growth, resilience, and connection, even when life’s challenges or past wounds make it hard to feel that way. In our work together, we slow down and create a safe space to explore your emotions, uncover your strengths, and process difficult experiences. By tapping into your innate capacity for healing, AEDP not only addresses pain but also helps you reconnect with joy, vitality, and a deeper sense of self. Offered in longer-term psychotherapy and shorter-term (16 week) formats.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing)*

EMDR is an evidence-based therapy that helps people heal from trauma, anxiety, and distressing life experiences. Instead of just talking about the past, EMDR uses gentle, guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation to help the brain reprocess difficult memories so they no longer feel overwhelming. This process can reduce emotional distress, shift unhelpful beliefs, and open space for new feelings of safety, confidence, and peace. EMDR supports your mind’s natural ability to heal, helping you move forward with greater freedom and ease. Offered in both weekly and intensive formats.

Enneagram

Enneagram is a powerful tool for self-discovery and growth. In therapy, it helps us understand the patterns, motivations, and core needs that shape how you see the world and relate to others. By exploring your Enneagram type together, we can identify both the strengths you naturally bring and the areas where you may feel stuck. This insight can deepen your self-compassion, improve your relationships, and guide us toward more effective strategies for lasting change. The Enneagram isn’t about putting you in a box, it’s about showing you the way out. Offered in individual coaching as well as woven into psychotherapy & counseling services.

Mindfulness-based therapies/ CBT*

Mindfulness-CBT blends the proven tools of CBT with the calming, grounding practices of mindfulness. Together, these approaches help you notice and gently shift unhelpful thoughts, manage difficult emotions, and stay more present in daily life. In therapy, we’ll use practical strategies to change patterns that no longer serve you, while mindfulness skills help you respond to life with greater clarity, compassion, and calm. This combination can reduce stress, lift mood, and support lasting emotional well-being. Offered in both individual counseling, coaching, & group course formats.

Somatics*

Somatic work is an integral part of both psychotherapy and counseling. Emotions and stress are not only experienced in the mind — they are held in the body. Together, we pay attention to how anxiety, grief, anger, or disconnection show up physically through breath, muscle tension, posture, or shifts in energy. By gently bringing awareness to these patterns, you can begin to regulate your nervous system rather than feeling overwhelmed by it. Somatic awareness helps translate insight into lived change, allowing your body and mind to move toward greater steadiness, safety, and integration.

Internal Family Systems*

Internal Family Systems–informed therapy begins with the understanding that we all have different “parts” within us, aspects that carry emotions, beliefs, and protective strategies shaped by experience. You may recognize a driven part that pushes you forward, a critical part that tries to keep you safe by striving for perfection, or a younger part that still holds hurt or fear. Rather than silencing or fighting these parts, we approach them with curiosity and compassion.

In our work, we don’t just talk about these parts, we gently experience them in real time, within a steady and attuned therapeutic relationship. As protective layers soften, deeper emotions can be processed safely and fully. This creates space for a more grounded, confident core self to emerge, one that can lead your internal system with clarity, resilience, and greater emotional freedom.

Practice Specialities

Anxiety

You know the feeling - heart racing, chest pounding, mind going a mile a minute. It happened a few times and you thought “no big deal.” But it’s happening more, and in places like the car on the drive to work, in a meeting, while you’re teaching a class. Or you have a constant buzzing in your head. Your thoughts race from one topic to the next, and you feel like you can’t get anything done. You’re constantly distracted and depleted. You can’t remember the next thing you’re supposed to do, and your to-do list is piling up. Maybe you’ve tried some relaxation techniques on your own, or tried a few “Self-Care Sundays.” But it’s not working. We’ll get to the bottom of what’s going on in a holistic way. You’ll learn coping strategies while we look deeper at what may be at the core of the issue.

Overachieving & Harsh Inner Critic

Things need to be a certain way. But there’s never enough time to do all that’s necessary. Or there’s a sense that you’re always looking to the next thing - life stage, project, achievement - and then that’s when you’ll feel less stressed and okay. Maybe you’ve been praised your whole life for being so smart, so capable, so able to “do it all” - all the while feeling like an impostor or that something is missing. Like you’re not even sure why you’re doing all you’re doing. I get it, and have been there, too. We will slow down together to understand what’s happening and make space for your core self to emerge.

Sensory Processing Sensitivity (HSP trait), ADHD & Twice Exceptionality

Neurodiverse brains are beautiful and powerful, and also have specific needs. As a person with the HSP trait, I get where you’re coming from. Bright lights, strong smells, coarse fabrics, sirens nearby - feeling “rattled” when you have a lot to do in a short amount of time - needing to withdraw during busy days, into bed or a darkened room or some other place where you can have privacy and relief from the situation - a childhood peppered with sensitivity and shyness - feeling simultaneously overwhelmed and also unable to move forward & stuck - explosive or big emotions that feel impossible to process. We’ll slow down together and take time to understand your individual experience, process what it’s like to experience life with a brain that works this way, and celebrate the strengths our neurospicy brains hold.

Children of Emotionally Unavailable Parents

Growing up with emotionally unavailable parents can leave lasting gaps in connection and understanding, but it can also foster resilience, empathy, and valuable insight into your own emotional world. In psychotherapy, we focus on building and strengthening these existing strengths while gently addressing and healing old wounds. This process helps you learn to trust more deeply, express yourself more openly, and create meaningful relationships where you feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported in a safe and nurturing environment.
